This is Radio Shack’s version of the
Rockwell 8R.
It is an 8-digit calculator with an LED display. It has the basic functions and can perform percentage calculations. As a nice little touch, there is a little dot sticking out on the five key. Almost 8-digit that is, for when displaying negative numbers the leftmost digit is used for the sign leaving only 7-digits for the negative number. The lowest negative number possible on this calculator is therefore "-8888888". The = key is awkwardly placed at the top right position. Operations are automatically repeated by repeatedly pressing the = key. When there is an error condition all eight decimal points are lit. There is an article about this calculator on the National Museum of American History website here (link validated 2025-12-06). |
